Data Retention Policy

Effective 21 August 2026 · Last updated 22 August 2026

We keep personal data only as long as we need it. This page sets out our own retention schedule and how it is applied in the product.

This page explains how JobMatch Ireland operates. It is written in plain English for our customers and does not constitute legal advice. It is not a certification of compliance by any authority.

Our approach

GDPR requires storage limitation but does not set universal retention periods. The periods below are JobMatch Ireland's own defaults, chosen to be no longer than necessary while still keeping the records we are legally required to keep. They are configuration values in the application, so they can be reviewed and changed.

Retention schedule

Retention period and reason for each category of data
DataKept forWhy
Account and profile informationWhile your account is activeNeeded to provide the service you signed up for. Deleted or anonymised within 30 days of a deletion request.
Uploaded CV files and extracted CV textUntil you delete them, or with your accountNeeded to run and re-open your analyses. Deleting a CV removes the stored file immediately.
Job descriptions and AI analysis resultsUntil you delete them, or with your accountKept so you can revisit your reports. No lawful reason to keep them afterwards.
Support requests365 days, then anonymisedNeeded to answer you and to handle any follow-up complaint or dispute. The account link and account context are removed immediately if you delete your account.
Security, access and audit logs365 days (target)Security and fraud prevention. Individual records may be kept longer where necessary for an incident, investigation, legal claim or regulatory requirement.
Billing, payment and subscription records6 yearsRetained where required by Irish tax and accounting law, and to handle chargebacks or disputes. These records are kept even after account deletion.
Account deletion record6 yearsA minimal record (email address and date) that a deletion request was carried out, so we can show the request was honoured.
Marketing consent and withdrawal recordsWhile consent is active; suppression record kept afterwardsTo show consent was given and to make sure you are not contacted again after you opt out.

What deletion actually does

When you delete your account from Account → Privacy & data, the application immediately removes your stored CV files, your CVs, your analyses and their job descriptions, your credit history, your profile, your entitlement record and your sign-in account, and it unlinks and strips the account context from any support request you sent. Anything that survives that process is erased or anonymised within 30 days unless we must keep it for a legal, tax, fraud-prevention, security or dispute-resolution reason.

Two things are deliberately retained: billing and payment records (Irish tax and accounting obligations, and chargeback handling), and a minimal record that a deletion request was carried out. Neither contains your CV content.

Automated clean-up

A scheduled server-side sweep anonymises support requests once they pass the support retention window, so old messages stop being linked to a person even if no one deletes their account. Deleting a CV in your dashboard deletes the stored file at the same time, not later.
